Wingman take to the water with Tom Montgomery-Swan, this year’s most exciting offshore racer.
Tom Montgomery-Swan has set the benchmark in offshore powerboat racing once more and he has asked Wingman to join him on this high octane ‘all thrills’ journey! At the tender age of 12 years old Tom became the youngest person to circumnavigate the British Isles, again at 14 he became the youngest to circumnavigate Ireland and in 2008 became the youngest person to race in the Round Britain Powerboat Race. This guy really is in a class of his own! Now Tom has pushed forward and entered the biggest race of his life; the Cowes to Monte-Carlo Gran Prix, a 2,400 mile ocean endurance race. This race will see 50 of the worlds elite teams competing for the overall win. Tom will race a new 50ft, 2400hp Race RIB, designed specifically for endurance offshore racing. With a top speed nearing 120mph and a range of 400 miles, this boat is set to be a serious contender for the title.
Tom will officially be the youngest person to race this event at the age of 24 and Wingman will be by his side, keeping him fresh & fearless every step of the way. Recent racing has seen Tom pick up various podiums internationally in circuit and offshore racing, including a class win and sixth overall in the Round Ireland Powerboat Race; a race that saw his 100mph powerboat submarining through a wave at over 85mph, severally damaging the boat and crew…painful! Tom looks forward to the new developments within his team, trying Wingman out and to testing his new power boat this summer.
